Where does Dulse Flakes seaweed come from?
Atlantic Dulse Flakes seaweed can be found all across the Irish coast and on both sides of the North Atlantic. It grows in cold waters and is found in rock pools on rocky reefs and among other seaweeds. It is usually found in the inter-tidal zone. You can get Dulse your self also, wait for very low tides or take a dip with your snorkel and fins and you could discover it all for your self!
What exactly is Dulse Flakes seaweed?
Dulse is a crimson red seaweed. It’s botanical name is Palmaria Palmata and is making a name for itself as “bacon of the sea” once fried. Dulse is a more balanced seaweed to that of other salty tasting seaweeds, dulse has a mild spicy umami taste to it. We love the stuff and have been eating it for over 40 years!
